We are an Essex and Suffolk based boutique legal consultancy and signposting service, specialising in Will Writing and Estate Administration, Powers of Attorney, Divorce, Immigration and Property (information and signposting only).
As a legal consultancy, we do not advise on reserved areas of law: for example, Immigration, Residential and Commercial Property and Grant of Probate. However, after years of working in the legal sector, we have a network of trusted contacts and ex-colleagues in every area of legal practice. If your needs fall outside our service offering, then we will be happy to introduce you to someone within that network. We will also signpost you to the appropriate organisation depending on your particular requirement.
We provide a local alternative to the traditional law firm model because our consultants are not acting as solicitors when providing services through Laurselle Legal. Law firms are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and when we provide services to our clients we are not regulated or authorised by the SRA.
In the UK, there are certain activities which are “reserved” to solicitors (and in some cases other authorised, regulated persons like barristers or licensed conveyancers). These are:
- The Exercise of a Right of Audience (i.e. The right to act as an advocate in court)
- The Conduct of Litigation
- Conveyancing
- Probate activities
- Notarisation
- The Administration of Oaths
We do not conduct any of these reserved activities. We provide legal advice in non-reserved activities. However, if you approach us for a property transaction or an immigration or probate matter, we will recommend you to a regulated law firm.
We can also help you with your non legal enquiries which are a part of a legal matter but cannot be dealt with by a solicitor.
Our consultants are trained and practiced in regulated law firms before taking the step into the alternative model of legal consultancy. While we are not a law firm, we offer the same experience and proficiency as a traditional boutique practice.
We currently do not have a professional indemnity cover or a public liability cover.

MEET THE TEAM
With over 16 years in the legal Industry I have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge.
During my work as a law practitioner, I realised how overwhelming and stressful the legal process is for the clients. As a legal practitioner working in a stressful law firm environment, I could not provide the much needed time and support to my clients, especially time to explain the legal process and help them to cope with the stress.
I realised that just legal advice is not enough, my clients required emotional support as well as practical advice from a trusted advisor on the legal process, who acts as an objective sounding board and provides non-judgemental friendly ear.
Therefore, I decided to take the role of a Legal Consultant instead of acting as a practicing lawyer. My aim is to combine my legal experience with my compassionate nature and provide a holistic support and guidance to my clients to make them feel empowered.
As Cal Newport states:
-“Passion comes after you put in the hard work to become excellent at something valuable, not before. In other words, what you do for a living is much less important than how you do it.”
I joined Laurselle Legal in March 2022 as a volunteer to gain practical experience while completing my Law degree at Suffolk University, where I graduated with a high 2:1. After completing my studies, I was thrilled to be offered a full-time permanent position at Laurselle Legal.
In my role, I enjoy assisting clients with a range of legal matters. I provide clear guidance and support, ensuring their concerns are addressed effectively. For matters requiring regulated legal services, I can confidently refer clients to our trusted network of regulated solicitors.
With a compassionate approach and strong listening skills, I aim to offer both emotional support and practical advice, helping clients navigate their legal matters with confidence and ease.
I am also available to assist clients through Court hearings as a McKenzie Friend, offering moral support, helping with Court applications, and taking notes during proceedings.
Outside of work, I cherish spending time with family and friends and enjoy immersing myself in a good book.
I suppose you could call me a seasoned professional as my career spans over 40 years, most of which I have spent in legal and financial services roles. My experience has encompassed many overlapping competencies and I have come to realise that I enjoy using the knowledge I have gained to enable clients to make decisions about managing their affairs and also to support them on the journey. I have always believed that an holistic approach is best and have been taught, right from the very start of my career some very important lessons. “Never pin a Will”, “it’s not worth a light without the date on it” and “the devil is in the detail” are just some of the phrases that I have carried with me over the years and made me strive to do the best I can.
I have been professionally trained as a Will and Estate Planning Consultant, which strangely enough is an area where I started my career. I have been affiliated to the Society of Will Writers and the Society of Later Life Advisers and as such I believe that everyone should have a professionally drafted Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney too.
Estate planning is very important after all it is what you have worked for all your life.
I am proud to assist in managing the Accounts Department and providing HR support at Laurselle Legal Practice. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for numbers, I ensure that both the financial and administrative operations run smoothly, allowing the team to concentrate on delivering exceptional legal support to our clients.
I truly enjoy my role and find great satisfaction in helping the practice maintain financial accuracy while supporting the HR needs that keep the office environment organised and efficient. Building positive relationships with our colleagues and clients is something I value deeply.
I strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere within our practice, making sure everyone feels supported and valued. It is incredibly rewarding to contribute to such a dynamic team, and I am grateful for the opportunity to play a part in Laurselle Legal Practices continued success.
